Hanoi: hotel room prices to skyrocket during APEC
07/10/2006 (GMT+7)
According to many local travel agents, the number of hotel rooms available for tourists in Hanoi is very limited from now until the end of the year.

Many accommodation service providers have reported that they will not be able to receive tourists during the months of October and November. The reason is, the APEC summit will take place during that time and a large number of rooms has been booked for APEC delegations.
Truong Nam Thang, Director of OSC Tourism Company said that some hotels still have rooms available, but they ask for very high prices which are on an average 20% higher than they used to be.
In order to avoid skyrocketing tour prices, travel agents have advised their customers to just visit Hanoi for one day and spend their nights in Ha Long. Tourists can choose between sleeping on boats in the beautiful bay of Ha Long or spend their nights in hotels.
Tourism service providers also advise their customers to take tours to the central or southern regions during the above-mentioned time to cut down on their tour prices.
