Ho Chi Minh City to hold "Taste of the World" festival

Ho Chi Minh City is expected to get busier in early December, 2006 with an international food festival where a Vietnam Guinness record is expected.
The event will draw chefs from 20 international restaurants and hotels in Ho Chi Minh City specialising in popular dishes in 15 nations across the world.
Food from China, Greece, France, Germany, India, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, the US and host Vietnam will be served to visitors who will have a chance to experience the culinary arts of different cultures.Vietnam Traditional music and traditional costumes worn by waiters and waitresses will add to the taste of the dishes, said organisers from the municipal Tourism and External Relation Departments.
Programmes on the Vietnamese culinary art will be presented by famous traditional music expert Tran Van Khe and his colleague Ta Van Thanh, with cooking illustrations by members of the Saigon Chefs Club.
Vietnam's longest fresh spring roll to be made by over 100 chefs, will climax the three-day event from December 1 at the Van Thanh Tourist Park.
International dances performed by art troupes from Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam will make the "Taste of the World-2006" colourful, according to Saigontourist which co-sponsors the event.
The festival is to mark the success of the APEC-Vietnam 2006 and the country's admission to the World Trade Organisation.
