Mekong Delta tour to co-operate for Vietnam tourism development
27/07/2006 (GMT+7)
A tourist development co-operation program themed “Tourist Triangle” was signed by the tourism departments of Can Tho City and the provinces of An Giang and Kien Giang on July 18. The program aims to create connection for tourist development in the Mekong Delta.
Can Tho City bridge is under construction and expected to complete for the National Tourism Year 2008.
Can Tho City has many advantages to develop MICE tourism, garden ecotourism and sightseeing tours to floating markets on the river. Kien Giang attracts visitors with its beautiful landscapes of forests, mountains, sea and islands, ecological tourist areas, resorts and Phu Quoc Island, a hot destination for the time being. An Giang has specific characteristics of southern Vietnam with waterways in combination with mountains and pagodas, which are good conditions for developing spiritual tours, picnics and mountaineering. Besides, the Tourism Departments of Can Tho City and the provinces of An Giang and Kien Giang also set up their own consulting centre to provide information to visitors.
To develop the “Tourist Triangle”, three provincial leaders designed the cooperation projects, such as planning of tourist development project, offering different local tourist products and Vietnam sightseeing tours, calling for investment, organizing annual cultural events, festivals and technical training program for staff.
