Hoi An to found fund for tourism development
The ancient town of Hoi An will found a fund for tourism development in order to re-invest and support the making of tourism products and promote tourism activities.
The project has been set up by Hoi An Trade and Tourism Department. The fund will be raised with money contributed by hotels and guesthouses owners. The total amount of money raised each year is expected to reach US $33,000. The project proposal has been submitted for concerned bodies for approval.
A good piece of news for Hoi An tourism sector is that 30-60% of international tourists from traditional markets such as France, Germany, Australia, Denmark, Spain, Switzerland and Sweden have come to Vietnam and visited Hoi An as well.
Russian tourists are also tending to call at Hoi An when they travel to Vietnam. Russia is being viewed as a new potential market.
So far this year, Ho An has welcomed 600,000 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 28%, including 200.000 foreign tourists. The turnovers from the tourism sector reached about 240 billion, an increase of nearly 12% against last year’s same period.
In Hoi An, there are at present 16 tourist transport companies with a total of 65 four to 45-seat cars, 24 cruise ships and 10 high-speed ships.
