Vietnam beach: Da Nang beach fouled by waste water
11/07/2006 (GMT+7)
Two waste water outfall pipes are currently spilling unknown fall out directly onto My Khe beach, Da Nang City.
The Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment has proposed methods to deal with the problem, but has offered up complaints of capital shortfalls and difficulties with site clearance. “Many tourists think that this is a stream caused by tide because the mouth of the culvert is hidden behind a dune,” said one local. The two culverts have been in place for years, built at the same time as the Son Tra – Dien Ngoc coastal road.
