Vietnam holiday - Tet - Vietnam Airlines adds hundreds more flights

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) will add about 767 flights on domestic routes from February 1 to March 3 next year to meet passenger demands to travel home on Tet Lunar New Year Holiday.
Traditionally, those working in the cities far from home in Vietnam make the long trek back to their homeland each year at Tet, virtually shutting down services in major centers, but forming the makings of a great party and holiday season.
According to the schedule, the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route will add 306 more flights, Ho Chi Minh City-Danang 316 flights, Ho Chi Minh City-Hue 100, Ho Chi Minh City-Quy Nhon 52 and other routes from the southern city to northern cities like Hai Phong and Vinh.
In related news, VNA is scheduled to buy 10 new Airbus A321s and one the new Boeing 787-8 aircraft, along with spare engines with loans of over US$1.2 billion from foreign banks like France’s Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank and the US’s Eximbank.
