Mekong trip, ready for discovery

11/12/06 (GMT+7)

A trip through big cities of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia to learn about business activities and call at plants and companies and exchange with successful businessmen from December 10-28 will be made.

This is a Mekong Trip project by the Youth Businessmen Club (BINGO), an activity organised for students from the National University of Singapore.

With the trip to the Mekong delta this time, the group of young people from the club want to help Singaporean students to learn about socio-economic conditions and the developing economies of three Indochinese countries, particularly Vietnam.

“We want to contribute to building the image of an active and friendly Vietnam in international friends. We hope to provide the Singaporeans with a clearer view of the Vietnamese economy and investment opportunities in Vietnam through a research at an online library of the National University of Singapore after the trip,” said Nguyen Bui Minh Cuong, director of the project, aged 20.

The trip is also of great significance. The participants have collected more than 200 kilograms of toys, including children’s books, clothes and VND14mil from kind-hearted people and students from the National University of Singapore to help disadvantaged children of Vietnam and Cambodia.
