US$1.5 bil for tourism infrastructure Vietnam

Vietnam will invest US$1.5 bil in tourism infrastructure from now to 2010.

The target in Vietnam’s tourism sector is to be able to handle 5.5 to 6mil foreign visitors and 25-26mil domestic travellers, and to earn a turnover of $4-$4.5bil by 2010.

According to the plan, the government will focus investment on provinces and cities that have national tourist sites in the central region and the Central Highlands, on tourist sites around tourist centres, and on infrastructure at tourist sites in disadvantaged, mountainous and remote provinces.
