Phu Bai Airport in Hue City

Phu Bai Airport in Hue City, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has issued a decision to upgrade Phu Bai Airport in Hue city, Thua Thien-Hue province into an international airport.

Accordingly, Phu Bai Airport will be upgraded to have 2,800km of 45m-wide runway with lights to serve night flights.

Hue city hopes to welcome large-sized airplanes like Boeing 767s or similar ones by 2010 and serve one million passengers per year and 50,000 tonnes of goods by that year; two million passengers and 100,000 tonnes of goods by 2020.

The capital for upgrading Phu Bai Airport is expected to reach hundreds of billions of dong. Last year the airport served 2,327 flights and 428,000 passengers.

Along with the Da Nang International Airport, the appearance of a new international airport will support the development of the central region.
