Vietnam travel announces new plans for 2010-2017

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has approved the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s plans to hold Vietnam tourism years in six localities in the 2010-2017 period.

Under the plans, Thua Thien-Hue will be the host in 2012, Haiphong City in 2013, Lam Dong in 2014, Thanh Hoa in 2015, Kien Giang in 2016, and Lao Cai in 2017, the Vietnamese Government said on its website Nov 27.
Launched in 2003, the designation has focused on cities all over the country - from Can Tho to Dien Bien. This year it focused on Hanoi to mark the city’s millennial anniversary.
Next year, the tourism year will be held in the central province of Phu Yen under the theme “Exotic Beaches and Islands”.
The National Tourism Year is considered the most important aspect of the Vietnam travel's calendar and is intended to encourage investment in infrastructure, tourism facilities and services.Vietnam welcomed 4.172 million international visitors in the first ten months of this year, up 39% on-year. The Southeast Asia country aims to welcomed five million foreign travel to Vietnam and contribute to  $4.6 billion for Vietnam travel in 2010.
