Hanoi to open more tramcar routes

Hanoi will open more tramcar routes in Hoan Kiem District and in some famous relic sites and landscapes, like the Temple of Literature and Thang Long Royal Citadel, according to a decision by the Hanoi City People’s Committee on August 21st.

Accordingly, implementation of the project will be studied by the Ministry of Transport, the Hoan Kiem district People’s Committee and some relevant districts.

According to one–member Ho Tay National Co. Ltd., the company will put 20 tramcars into operation as of September 2nd around West Lake and some relic sites and landscapes in Ho Tay district.  

The company will also build ten stations along the 18 km–route and planned to import 30 tramcars to run on surrounding areas.

Along with touring West Lake, visitors will have an opportunity to visit 21 tourism destinations and landscapes around the lake, such as West Lake Theme Park, Tao Sach Pagoda, Van Nien Pagoda, Thian Nien Pagoda and so on.

At present, Hanoi has tramcar routes around Sword Lake and Old Quarter areas.
