Beauty of islands and sea to be showcased

Nearly 1,000 documents and books, maps, photos, CDs, documentaries since the beginning of the 20th century featuring the strength, potentiality and beauty of the Vietnamese islands and sea will be displayed at an exhibition, “Halong Bay and Islands-Seas of Vietnam” to open on September 1st at the National Library, Hanoi.

These documents  also include files confirming the role of Vietnam’s islands and sea, documents relating to the international law of the sea, Vietnam’s law of islands and sea, sea route network, ports and interesting sea tourism destinations throughout Vietnam.

The opening ceremony of the 10-day exhibition is accompanied with a book collection campaign for troops and civilians in island districts of Vietnam and a competition to find out the beauty of Vietnam’s islands and sea via books.

The exhibition is in response to the “National Tourism Year 2011” under the theme “Islands and Sea Tourism” and the campaign to vote for Halong Bay as one of the New Seven World’s Natural Heritages.
