With the upcoming two flights that bring in 160-180 tourists each, and the five existing chartered flights, Da Nang will be able to welcome about 1,000 Chinese tourists a week.

Da Nang-based Viours Co., which serves those Chinese guests, is planning to hire planes from Vietnam Airlines or China Eastern Airlines, said director Cao Tri Dung. “Chinese tourists love to visit beaches and the World Heritage sites in the central region,” he added.

Chinese tourists have been arriving in Da Nang on chartered flights from Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taipei and Chengdu since May. Vitours is in charge of catering to tourists from Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu, and 30% of tourists from Taipei.

Besides, low-cost carrier AirAsia will launch a direct service from Danang to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in mid-December, making it easy for local tour operators to offer outbound tours for domestic tourists, and cater to foreign tourists.

Currently, to fly to Malaysia from Da Nang, tourists have to go to Singapore where they take a train to Malaysia, or travel to Ho Chi Minh City and then fly direct to Malaysia. However, once the Da Nang-Kuala Lumpur service is activated, Da Nang Airport will have two international flights a week, the other service being the Da Nang-Singapore flight operated by Singapore’s SilkAir.
