More than 60 local and foreign contestants from China and Thailand will join the competition.
The tour to climb up and plant the flag of Thang Long - Hanoi on the nation’s highest mountain, the Fansipan peak around 2,800m tall, is a chance to promote tourism potentials of eight northwestern provinces and raise awareness of the community towards environment protection.
The event will also include a seminar on developing tourism in northwestern provinces , lantern festival on streets in Sapa town and photography contest of poetic natural landscapes in Hoang Lien National Park.
Fansipan Mountain is located 9km south-west of the town of Sapa in the Hoang Lien Mountain Range. At a height of 3,143 meters, Fansipan has been called "the Roof of Indochina". Regarded as one of the few genuine eco-tourist facilities in Vietnam, the area boasts some 2,000 plant varieties and 327 species of animals.
