“With long stays and greater spending capacity than tourists from other countries, Russia is a huge potential market of the Vietnamese travel industry,” Cuong added.
The industry will continue promoting Vietnam travel as a tourist destination to Russian people, as well as conducting research on Russian tourism trends and foster cooperation between tourist agents from the two nations, Cuong also said.
Building more tourism facilities, especially in central and southern-coastal provinces, is also a major consideration, he noted.
Russian holidaymakers are interested in entertainment services in Nha Trang, Phan Thiet and Phu Quoc, said Andrey Sorokin, director in charge of the Chinese and Vietnamese markets for Capital Tour - the leading Russian agent for Vietnam, forecasting that the number of Russian visitors travel to Vietnam will top 150,000 by 2015.
Vietnam offers visa exemptions to Russians since January 2009, which has contributed to attracting a larger amount of tourists to Vietnam. Russians with ordinary passports enjoy 15-day visa exemptions in Vietnam.
