The name of the Globe Joint Stock Company has been repeated recently among information about investment projects in the central city of Da Nang. The company has emerged as one of the most dynamic investors who are seeking investment opportunities in the sea city.

VietNamNet has found out that the company is making investment in the tourism complex ‘Sun Rise’ on the North My An beach, adjacent to the five-star resorts Furama resorts and Hoang Tra, which is estimated to cost $60mil. At the same time, the company has also injected money in the Hoa Xuan ecological urban area and golf course, capitalised at $150mil.

On Son Tra peninsula, the company is the investor of the Bai Bac tourism complex project, which has the total investment capital of $150mil. The investor has stated that it will turn the Bai Bac tourism complex into a paradise, not inferior to Vinpearl Land in Nha Trang Vietnam.

Most recently, the company once again stirred the public when announcing its decision to invest in the project on Ba Na-Suoi Mo cable car system, creating a new route that takes tourists to the special tourism land of Da Nang, which has been not fully exploited.

In fact, Da Nang Vietnam already has a cable car system on Ba Na Mountain, but the system is just 1 km long, connecting Vong Nguyet hill and Ba Na mountaintop. However, the cable car does not help much, as tourists who want to go from the mountain bottom to Vong Nguyet hill have to travel along a steep mountain pass. That explains why very few travellers go to Ba Na.

The company is now cooperating with foreign experts and the Da Nang Institute for Construction Programming to make field investigations, the first step in the project implementation. The investor has nearly wrapped up the negotiations with city authorities, a source said, and the day for kicking off the project would be in mid December 2007. The cable car system is expected to be put into operation one year after the construction starts.

The investor has not revealed the details of the project. However, a source told VietNamNet that the Ba Na-Suoi Mo cable car system would have the length of 4.2 km, connecting the mountain bottom in Suoi Mo and the Ba Na mountaintop, which is 1,487 m above sea water level. The investor also thinks of building resorts on the mountaintop and at the mountain bottom. The total investment capital for the cable car system and the resorts may reach $200mil.

According to the Ba Na-Suoi Mo Tourism Complex Management Board Nguyen Van Den, the number of tourists going to the area has been on the rise. Some 80,000 tourists have gone there since the beginning of the year, increasing by 5% over the same period last previous year. The National Day holiday alone saw 6,000 tourists who went to Ba Na-Suoi Mo, an increase of 13% over last year’s holiday.

“More tourists will go there once the Ba Na-Suoi Mo cable car system becomes operational,” said Mr Den.

Sources said that Globe Company was also involved in the project on Vinpearl Nha Trang cable car system, and the founders of Globe Company are also the shareholders of the powerful group with headquarters in the Ukraine. The chief contractor and the Austrian expert, who participated in the construction of Vinpearl Nha Trang, will also be involved in the construction of the Ba Na-Suoi Mo cable car system.

Da Nang city authorities put high hopes on the new cable car system, believing that the project will give Da Nang’s tourism a new face.
