Starwood Hotel & Resorts Worldwide to build two hotels in Halong Bay

Hotels in Halong, visitors to Halong Bay Vietnam are set for more high-end accommodation options following an announcement on May 18 by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide that it has reached an agreement with Royal International Corp. to develop two hotels in halong bay.
The 160-room Four Points hotel is expected to open in early 2008 and the 300-room Sheraton Halong Bay Resort was planned to open in 2010.
Starwood currently operates Sheraton Sai Gon Hotel and Towers and Sheraton HaNoi hotel, Hotels in Vietnam.
The two-hotel project further strengthens the position of Starwood as one of the largest international high-end hotel chains in the Thailand and Indochina region, which includes Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
Starwood currently operates 13 hotels in the region, with 11 more under development in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Kon Samui, Angkor and now Halong Bay.
President of Starwood Hotels and Resorts in the Asia Pacific, Miguel Ko, said he expected Vietnam’s entry into the World Trade Organisation to boost leisure and business travel into the country even further as Vietnam gains international prominence.
World Heritage-listed Halong Bay is located in the northern province of Quang Ninh Vietnam and features a picturesque expanse of 1969 limestone monolithic islands which rise from the ocean along the 120km coastline, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars.
