Cruise tourists travel to Vietnam on sharp rise

Cruise tourists travel to Vietnam, only in April, 20,000 international tourists travel in Vietnam on cruise ships, an increase of 140% against the previous month, said the National Administration of Tourism.

Saigontourist Travel Corporation alone welcomed nearly 6,000 cruise tourists in April, said Doan Thanh Tra, deputy manager of the marketing and planning department of Saigontourist.
She said that the cruise foreigners through Saigontourist are mainly from Britain, Germany, Italy, China, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore.
Cruise tourists travel to Vietnam this month, the company is expected to welcome 1,200 cruise foreigners travel to Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang on May 14 and 1,800 tourists travelling on the Aquarius ship of the Star Cruises travel to Vietnam on May 19, she added.
The administration’s statistics show that the number of cruise international arrivals in the country is accounting for nearly 50% of the toal foreigners travel to Vietnam. Saigontourist’s cruise tourists account for about 35% of the firm’s international travellers to Vietnam.
This year, Vietnam is expected to attract about 300,000 international tourists travelling on modern cruise ships, said the administration.
