Investment in Vietnam: Sunway hotel planning to expand

Sunway Hotels & Resorts is seeking new business opportunities in tourism sector in Vietnam

On March 5, Malaysian Sunway Hotels & Resorts signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU)with Nam Cuong Tourism and Trade Group on the cooperation for tourism development.

Sunway Hotels & Resorts is an international group, specialising in hotel management and services, which is now managing 13 hotels and resorts (more than 3,00 rooms) with the brand names of Sunway Hotels & Resorts and Allson Hotels & Resorts in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Resorts & hotels in Vietnam.

In Vietnam, the group is running the 145 room Sunway Hotel Hanoi which can meet international standards. The hotel has been recognised by The Guide, belonging to Vietnam Economic Times media group, as the Best Boutique Hotel for the last consecutive six years, and as the Best Value Hotel in 2005.

Hanley Chew, Managing Director of Sunway & Allson International Hotels & Resorts, said that Sunway will give Nam Cuong (which provides services in many fields, including construction, transport, tourism and urban development), advises in development orientation, and help training the staffs for hotel management.

Nam Cuong is now managing Nacimex Hotel in the northern province of Hai Duong, and Hai Phong Tray Hotel in Hai Phong (both of them are 4 star hotels). The group is carrying out some projects on urban development, including the Thong Nhat urban area in Hai Duong, and Hoa Vuong urban area in Nam Dinh province.
