Hoi An tourism: one more high-grade tourism complex licenced

Hoi an tourism - Britain’s Qudos Company has been licenced to build a five-star resort on an area of 8.5 ha in Hoi An ancient town with the investment capital of $18mil.

The Quang Nam People’s Committee granted the investment licence to Qudos Hoi An Company Limited (office at No 117 Nguyen Cuu Van, Binh Thanh district in Ho Chi Minh City).

Qudos will spend VND290bil or $18mil to build and develop the Qudos Hoi An high-grade ecological tourism complex five-star resort, which will cover an area of 8.5 ha in Cam An ward in Hoi An town Quang Nam Vietnam. The project is scheduled to be kicked off in 2007 and put into operation after 33 months of construction.

As per the investment licence, the duration of the project will be 50 years, during which the investor will enjoy many incentives, including exemption from corporate income tax for two years, and a 50% tax reduction in the subsequent five years. In addition, the investor will not have to pay land leasing fees for the first three years from the day the complex becomes operational.

In the first two months of the year, Hoi An Vietnam received 90,000 tourists, (80% of which were foreign travellers), or a 40% increase over the same period last year.

According to Dinh Thi Thu Thuy, Head of the Hoi An Trade – Tourism Division, the number of travellers staying longer in Vietnam has been increasing sharply.

Ms Thuy said that four-star room of hotels in Hoi an now serve 45-47% of total travellers coming to Hoi An Vietnam, while these high-grade hotels’ turnover accounts for 60% of total turnover from accommodation.

The number of foreign tourists visiting My Son towers in Duy Xuyen district in Quang Nam province also reportedly increased by 45% compared to the same period last year.
