In August, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday the streets of Hoi An will be noise-free from engines. This will make walking very pleasurable for pedestrians. Rickshaws, bicycles and energy-vehicles will still circulate in the ancient town, but power-bicycles will be banned.

The Hoi An Town authority and people have tried their best to attract tourists. Programs such as the full moon night in the ancient town, which is often held on the 14th day of lunar calendar, and Night Street, which is often held on festivals, still remain.

* Hoi An inaugurates communal house in An My Village

Cam Chau Ward in Quang Nam Province's Hoi An ancient town has inaugurated a communal house in An My Village on the occasion of the festival of January lunar calendar 15.

The communal house, which was established in the 16th century, was recognized as a cultural historical monument in 1997. The communal house had been down-graded.

It was restored in June last year with total expenditure of VND450mil, contributed by the town, businesses and citizens.

The An My communal house, which has been put into operation to meet people's expectations, serves as an education centre to teach children about local history, as well as a destination for tourists traveling to Cam Chau Ward Hoi an Vietnam.
