Vietnam Airlines offers more flights to tourism destinations

Vietnam Airlines has announced to offer more flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam to famous tourism destinations like Nha Trang, Da Lat, Da Nang and Hue City Vietnam in order to serve the increased demand for traveling in summer 2007.

From June 1 to August 31, Vietnam Airlines will raise the flight frequency on several domestic routes. The carrying capacity on tourism air routes is expected to increase by 22-100% over the same period of 2006.
Vietnam Airlines will provide six instead of four flights a day on Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh City. The seats to be available will raise from 800 to 1,200 a day. The passengers flying from Hanoi to Da Nang will also have more choices as there will be five instead of three flights a day with the seats rising from 600 to 1,000. Boeing 777, A330, A321 and A320 will be used for these two routes.
As for the Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang air route, there will be five flights a day instead of three as currently, with A320 and A321 planes. Meanwhile, there will be two flights available a day from Hanoi to Nha Trang, with A320 and A321.
The air carrier will raise the number of flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Hue to three and four a day respectively. Passengers will fly with A320, A321 and ATR-72.
There will be five flights a day with ATR-72 on Ho Chi Minh City – Phu Quoc island – Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam, two flights a day with A320 on Hanoi – Hai Phong – Hanoi, one flight a day with A320/A321 on Hanoi – Da Lat – Hanoi. Nine flights will depart from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat every day with ATR-72 and Fokker 70.
Vietnam Airlines will also provide four flights a week with A320 on Hanoi – Buon Ma Thuot – Hanoi.
With the new flight schedule, several flights departing from Hanoi to Da Nang, Nha Trang and Hue City will take off earlier than the previous schedule. The earliest flight will depart from Hanoi at 5.30 am.
Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Director General of Vietnam Airlines, said that the air carrier decided to raise the flight frequency to serve the increased demand for traveling in the tourism season. This will also help avoid the hotel room rate increases. Foreign travellers to Vietnam can go directly to the excursion points with no need to stay in cities.
Several days ago, Vietnam Airlines has announced a new airfare policy with diversified airfare levels, aiming to offer more choices to passengers.
Other budget airlines have been launching promotion programmes in order to attract more clients. Jetstar Airways now sells tickets for flights to Singapore at $29 (not including taxes). The ticket booking lasts from May 29 to June 8, applied for the flights from June 1 until August 31.
Thai International Airways is now giving one free tickets for those who buy three tickets for Ho Chi Minh City/Hanoi – Bangkok.
According to the General Department of Statistics, 304,000 foreign tourists travel in Vietnam in May, an increase of 12% over the same period of the last year. As such, Vietnam has attracted 1.8mil tourists so far this year, up by 12.4% over the last year’s same period.
