Nha Trang Sea Festival 2007 closes

Nha Trang Sea Festival 2007 closed last night after one week of various tourism activities.
With more than 50 programmes and activities in various fields, Nha Trang Sea Festial 2007 attracted thousands of people. According to the organisers, many activities impressed tourists at home and abroad such as programme restoring fish wishing festival, caravan festival, fishing competition, sculpture, painting and photo camps with theme on land and people of Nha Trang Vietnam.
During the closing ceremony, the festival sent a message to people that “Do enjoy the sea and join effort to better protect sea environment.
The festival was a huge success as occupancy rates of hotels hovered close to 100 percent and revenues for this years festival trebled those from a similar event in 2005.
The Director of the Tourism and Trade Service of the central coastal province, Tran Son Hai, said during the weeklong biennial event that ran from June 9-15, around 55,000 holidaymakers flocked to Nha Trang Vietnam.
Over 50 entertainment programmes including a sculpture symposium, film festival, Cham pottery and textile exhibitions, a beer festival, rock and hip-hop performances, fashion shows that included models and artists from France and the Republic of Korea marked a festival that has gone from strength to strength over the last decade.
The high visitor turn out also had Nha Trang's cash registers ringing as local businesses rang up receipts of close to 60 billion VND, an increase of over 3.3 times that of the last festival held in 2005.
