Dalat Vietnam gears up for flower festival

Dalat Flower Festival 2007 – this national economic, cultural, and tourism event will be organized again in Dalat flower city at the end of this year. With the title “Dalat Flower – I love you”, the second flower festival will last eight days, from December 15 to 22.

As scheduled, diverse activities will take place during the festival, with the focus of the international flower exhibition fair in the city’s flower garden.

The exhibition fair aims to introduce Dalat’s festival and countries well-known for flowers such as the Netherlands, China, Japan, and Belgium.

A commercial and tourism fair will attract a showcase of 600 kiosks of domestic and foreign enterprises, with numerous investment promotion workshops organized by the Lam Dong’s People’s Committee to call upon potential investors in the Central Highlands.

The festival will also offer chances for tourists to participate in a flower caravan and flower exhibitions that will also showcase the mountainous city’s speciality products, such as teas and wines.

The city of love and romance, the festival will also involve a beauty contest for ethnic minority women called Miss Ethnic Vietnam and a collective wedding ceremony in which 114 couples will be hosted at the Sofitel Palace Hotel.

At present, as Da Lat City Vietnam is actively gearing up for the festival,. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nguyen, Deputy Chairwoman of the Dalat’s People Committee, said that with an expense of 2.8 billion VND, the city’s flower garden is being decorated and planted with new flowers.

Dalat Vietnam will have more four large hotels, with about 400-500 rooms in operation by the end of this year and a system of hotels in Dalat and personal hotels are developing rapidly, contributing to lessening demand accommodation in Dalat during the tourism season.
