Nam Hai resort, Cigar Aficionado, a lifestyle magazine for the affluent and discerning, hailed The Nam Hai luxury resort as the World's Best New Resort in their 2007 poll.
"As the world's top hotel brands fall over one another to open grand palaces throughout Asia, it was sleepy Vietnam that stood out," the magazine's editors wrote in their article about The Nam Hai.
Cigar Aficionado described The Nam Hai as "more of a village...with guest rooms contained entirely in decadent freestanding villas."
Paul McManus, president and chief executive officer of Leading Hotels of the World, was quoted in the article. He said that the property is "a resort of distinctive serenity and style located on Ha My Beach with outstanding spa facilities."
"This tribute is even more meaningful because it was given by the hospitality industry's top experts, said Wayne Duberly, general manager of The Nam Hai. "These are people who know the world's finest hotels inside and out. The fact that they think The Nam Hai is the best new resort in all of Asia is a tremendous achievement for us."
The award judging panel included top travel writers, hoteliers, hotel executives and travel agents. Cigar Aficionado circulates bi-monthly to more than 250,000 subscribers, and attracts a readership of more than 1.5mil, a demographic for which luxury goods, upscale dining and the best accommodation are second nature.
The Cigar Aficionado accolade is one of the numerous accolades the hotel The Nam Hai has won since its opening one year ago.
The Nam Hai spans 35-hectares between Danang and the UNESCO World Heritage town of Hoi An Vietnam. The hotel has 60 individual villas and 40 villas with private pools overlooking one kilometer of private beach.
