Visitors travel to Vietnam in three months
Vietnam welcomed over 1.1 million international travelers in the first quarter of 2007 travel to Vietnam, up 13.7% from the same period of last year.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism’s (VNAT) statistics, they mainly travel to Vietnam by air, with 867,940 people, accounting for 78% of the total, an increase of 23.7% over the same period of 2006.
The number of visitors who travel to Vietnam by land and travel to Vietnam by sea fell clearly, with 170,461 and 45,952 people, respectively, 25.5% and 2.7% lower than the corresponding period of 2006.
Up to 61.8% of international visitors travel to Vietnam in the past three months for travel purposes. The Republic of Korea travellers, Japan travellers, China and the US travellers had the highest numbers of people travel to Vietnam in this period.
The number of Chinese, Japanese, and American visitors travel to Vietnam in March reduced compared to February. Notably, the number of Chinese visitors travel to Vietnam in the first three months of 2007 fell by 11.3% year on year.
According to VNAT, only 362,336 foreign visitors travel to Vietnam in March, a fall of 4.6% compared to February. This year VNAT aims to welcome around 4.2 million of foreign visitors.
