Vietnam travel companies prepare for May Day

16/04/07 (GMT+7)

Vietnam travel companies are busily designing and preparing Vietnam tours for the upcoming holiday (Vietnam’s union day and May Day).

According to travel agents, the upcoming holiday will be quite long since the country’s union day (30/4) and the May Day (1/5) are next to the weekend. As a result, the number of people registering tours for this holiday is higher than last year.

Vietnam travel companies began to design tours for 30/4 and 1/5 at the beginning of the year. Along with the abundance of tours, they also offer attractive promotional programmes.

Fiditour reveals that by the end of March, nearly 8,500 visitors registered for 30/4-1/5 tours, an increase of 22% over the same holiday of last year.

The number is over 6,600 at Saigontourist, a growth of over 20%. The volume of foreign visitors registering to enter Vietnam through Saigontourist in April is over 6,400, 40% of them will come on the occasion of 30/4-1/5.

Similarly, the number of people traveling during this year’s union day and May Day with Vietravel rises by 15-20%. Nearly 2,000 visitors have registered for Vietnam local tours and nearly 4,000 registered for foreign tours from April 24-30 only at Vietravel’s head office .

A large number of Vietnamese people traveled abroad during the recent lunar New Year. However, they mainly choose Vietnam local tours for the upcoming holiday. Favourite Vietnam destinations are still familiar sites such as Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Da Nang, Hue, Hoi An, Phong Nha, and Sapa

For foreign tours, China is the top choice for individuals while Hong Kong, Europe, Japan, the US, and Singapore are the favourite destinations for groups, according to Saigontourist.

To draw more customers, Vietnam travel companies have launched many attractive promotional programmes for the upcoming holiday. Accordingly, visitors can draw lots to gain free tours to Korea, China, Malaysia or some local tourist sites like Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An, Phan Thiet, etc. or have opportunities to buy cheap tours, with discount of between 30-90%.
