Hoi An Tourism: hosts international sustainable tourism conference
03/04/07 (GMT+7)
Hoi an tourism, An international conference titled Aiming for Sustainable Tourism Development Based on Communities is taking place in the ancient town of Hoi An.

The conference, which will last until April 5, has attracted 50 experts from other Southeast Asian countries as well as 4 universities including Hanoi University of Construction, Thammasat University in Thailand, Laos National University of Architecture and Pinyin University in China.
The conference is being sponsored by UNESCO Bangkok – Thailand and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (International Cultural Tourism Charter).
Participants have agreed that historical towns in Indochina contain many hidden interesting values thanks to the mingling of different cultures. In recent years, cultural tourism has played a great role in creating significant sources of revenue for communities. However, an international or regional comprehensive plan for the sustainable development of cultural tourism hasn’t been properly researched. UNESCO will hand over the task of developing such a plan to national and regional organisations.
