19/04/07 (GMT+7)

A big wave of investment in high-grade tourism products now can be seen in the northern province of Ha Tay Vietnam, aiming to turn Ha Tay into a tourism centre in the north.

Ha Tay tourism projects

The Tuan Chau eco-tourism and entertainment complex project in Quoc Oai district has the total investment capital of VND1,558bil (over $97mil) and is expected to be kicked off in mid May. The project will include several main items, including a golf course for night playing, a 600 apartment bloc, a five-star hotel with 400 rooms, an amusement area and supermarkets.

According to the Ha Tay People’s Committee, Japanese and Australian investors have expressed interest in running the projects.

A tourism/health care centre has been drawn up. It is expected to be located along Van Son lake in Chuong My district. The project, which comprises a 36 hole golf course, is estimated to cost $22mil. The investor, DK ENC, plans to start the construction in the third quarter of the year.

The Ha Tay People’s Committee has also approved a project on programming and upgrading tourism products in the Ao Vua – Bang Ta – Tan Vien valley area, which is estimated to cost $200mil. The Ao Vua Ha Tay Construction and Tourism Joint Stock Company has got the right to be the investor of the project, and has signed a contract with Singapore’s VGG group on programming tourism development in the Ao Vua area. The programming is expected to be completed and submitted to competent agencies by the end of April.

Together with the programme on the development of Ba Vi national park, Ha Tay provincial authorities have also approved a project to develop high-grade eco-tourism in An Khanh, capitalised at VND343bil, which is expected to see the completion of its first phase in August.

PetroVietnam has got permission from Ha Tay authorities to plan the development of Suoi Hai Lake tourism area, which covers an area of 1,970 ha. The Tan Vien Oil and Gas Joint Stock Company, the project investor, is calling on investors to inject money in the project, which is estimated to cost VND3tril ($187.5mil). The tentative time for the kicking off of the project is the third quarter of the year.

In addition to projects on eco-tourism, tourism plus health care, Ha Tay province is now paying full attention to other kinds of tourism, including religious tourism, and excursions to trade villages. The province’s key tourism destinations are Huong (Perfume) Pagoda, Dau, Tay Phuong Pagodas, Phu Vinh trade village, which specialises in producing bamboo and rattan-made products, and Son Dong Village, which is famous for bronze sculpture statues.
