Indochina Capital on Wednesday started work on a five-star hotel named Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa in the central coast city of Danang as part of a broader plan to invest US$500mil in hotels and resorts in the central region.
Peter Ryder, general director of the financial group, said at the ground-breaking ceremony that the company will build three more commercial property projects in Quang Nam and Danang in central Vietnam in the next three years.
Indochina Capital so far has invested US$250mil in such projects in the region, comprising The Nam Hai resort costing US$60mil, the Montgomerie Links Golf Course worth US$60mil, the Indochina Riverside Towers worth US$30mil, and the Hyatt resort on Wednesday worth US$100mil.
"We will invest the remaining US$250mil in three more resorts here in the next three years" Ryder said.
The Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa covering 20 hectares in Ngu Hanh Son District will be completed in 2010. It will have 226 standard rooms, 150 apartments, and 30 villas, all being designed by the Singapore-based RMJM. The resort will be managed by Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, which is known for its fame in managing high-class hotels and resorts worldwide.
Grahame Carder, vice president for marketing of the Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, said at the event on Wednesday that the new resort would be the second property managed by the group in Vietnam, behind the Park Hyatt Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Carder highly rate the new development project as an ideal venue for guests.
Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa will be an international-standard resort owing to its close proximity to two famous beauty pots in Danang, which are Non Nuoc Beach and Ngu Hanh Son Mountain, he said.
"In Vietnam, it is difficult to find a venue that excellently combines both the sea and the mountain like here," he commented.
