Pilgrims flood Ba Chua Xu Festival

01/06/08 (GMT+7)

Ba Chua Xu Festival, thousands of travelers are Hocking to the Sam Mountain near Chau Doc Town to experience the one-week Ba Chua Xu (Lady Xu) Festival and ask the famous goddess of wealth for a prosperous life.

Ba Chua Xu Festival in Vietnam

The Ba Chua Xu Temple is located at the Sam Mountain, deep in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta and close to Tinh Bien, near the Cambodian border. The temple’s unique sandstone Lady Xu monument and its time-worn temple have turned the small riverside town into a pilgrimage site for many centuries.

Aside from boat races, pilgrimages, and lantern flying, this year organizers are going to declare the site as the biggest temple in Vietnam and the sacred monument as its biggest and oldest stone construction. The distinction has already been recorded in Vietnam’s Guinness Records by VIETKINGS, Vietnam’s Guinness Books Centre.

The fascinating way of life in watery Chau Doc and the blend of Cham, Khmer and Viet cultures add more to the tourists’ to-do list. The festival lasts until Saturday.
