Hotel to host Malaysian food week
Majestic Hotel will hold a Malaysian culinary week, a combination of the cooking styles of Malaysian, Chinese, Indian and Nyobna (early Chinese in Malaysia) from January 26 to February 1.
The menu includes popular Malaysian foods such as chicken with hot spices and tomato sauce, mackerel with chilli sambal sauce, stewed coconut and vegetables, and grilled chicken, beef or lamb with spices. Tickets are US$20 for adults and $10 for children.
Hotel targets new rice cake record
The Yasaka-Sai Gon-Nha Trang Hotel is targeting a new record for banh tet, a cylindrical glutinous rice cake filled with green bean paste and fat pork. This is an annual traditional activity of the hotel. This year's cake will be 33m long and will have various kinds of stuffing.
Celebrations will include a cake procession and cooking ceremony on February 5, and the cake will be taken out of the boiling pot at 9am on February 6. A cake-cutting ceremony and a Spring Luck programme will take place at 7pm on February 6 before the cake is served to tourists and locals.
Cebu Pacific to fly to Vietnam
Philippines carrier Cebu Pacific has announced that it will start flying to Vietnam on April 10, offering flights from Manila to Hanoi three times a week. The airline will also start a service from Manila to Ho Chi Minh City on April 11 with three weekly flights. The airline currently flies to 12 international destinations and competes with flag carrier Philippine Airlines in the domestic market.
US cruise ship docks at Phu My Port
The cruise ship Rhapsody of the US-based company Royal Caribbean International docked at Phu My Port in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province on Monday with some 1,900 passengers on board.
The cruise tourists toured Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau white Hanoi Tourism Service Company organised a visit to the boat for representatives of more than 30 local travel companies.
The ship left Phu My Port for Thailand on Monday evening before heading for Hong Kong, Shanghai and South Korea. The US cruise ship is scheduled to return to Vietnam in February and will dock at Chan May Port in Thu Thien - Hue Province and Halong City in Quang Ninh Vietnam.
