Last November the park offered a new service aimed at foreign tourists: a heritage program to enjoy Vietnamese traditional folk culture, arts and culinary art.

The West Lake heritage program takes place at the most beautiful location of the Theme Park, which is close to the bank of Ho Tay where a row of green coconut-palm are reflected in the lake. The tour lasts three hours, starting with a water puppetry show performed by the artisans of Dao Thuc puppetry village, one of the oldest developed water puppetry villages in Vietnam.

Vietnam water puppetry shows  are usually performed in spring at Vietnamese village festivals. During the performance, foreign tourists will feel the nuance of Vietnamese village festivals and the Vietnamese national character; the plays replicate many activities of the daily life of people in the rural areas, such as Dot phao bat co (exploding firecrackers and an unfurling flag), dragon dance, folk dance frog fishing and  xay thoc - gia gao (rice husking and pounding).

Tourists can also enjoy a buffet dinner at the village market with more than 40 dishes of both Western and Vietnamese traditional food, such as bun rieu cua (Vermicelli and sour crab soup), bun thang (vermicelli and chicken soup), bun oc (Vermicelli and shell-fish soup), pho ( noodle soup), banh xeo ( rice pancake folded in half) and xoi lua (steamed glutinous rice or pearl rice).

In the slightly cold air of Hanoi in winter, tourists can sit around a camp fire at the park and listen to folk music such as ca tru, chau van or hat cheo. These shows recreate rural daily life and tell stories about Vietnamese relationships and farming experiences that help tourists understand more about the attraction, beauty and  elegance of Vietnamese folk music.

The performances are on every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. Ticket prices are US$13.5 each for adults and US$6.75 each for children from six to12 years old. These prices do not include 5% service fee, 10% VAT or beverages.
