The Vietnam Tourism Administration added that the website has also shown that the country’s two other beauty spots - the Phong Nha-Ke Bang grotto and Fansipan mountain (Fansipan tour) in Sapa – were selected as the fourth and fifth most favourites.

All the three sites of Vietnam have always stood in the top-ten list of the voting among over 200 candidates from all parts of the world since the first phase of the voting kicked off in August 2007.

The first phase will close in August 8, 2008 to pick out 77 best favourites.

The second phase will take between six and seven months to select 21 sites of the most votes while the third and final phase will name the best seven among the 21 candidates. (VNA)
