Royal Yacht Club sets up Hong Kong to Nha Trang race in mid-October
The Hong Kong Royal Yacht Club is set to organise the third VinaCapital Hong Kong to Vietnam yacht race to Nha Trang in mid-October and has begun promoting it on its website at www.rhkyc.org.hk
The race is set to start on October 15.
Saigontourist is the club's traditional Vietnamese partner. Vo Anh Tai, director of Ho Chi Minh City-based travel firm, said the Government and Khanh Hoa authorities have approved the yacht race.
The Hong Kong club and Saigontourist started the bennial 656-mile race in 2006 when 13 yachts took part with 11 reaching Nha Trang.
Hanoi-HaLong helicopter service takes flight, at least for the rich
Two Vietnamese firms have begun an air taxi service between Hanoi and HaLong.
The Northern Air Service Company and the Royal international JS Company are using EC 130 B4 helicopters for the 45-minute trip.
The round fare is US$550 and one way $350.
They are also offering a tour of HaLong Bay by helicopter at $110 per person. Helicopters take off every 15 minutes, with up to five passengers per flight.
Early birds receive train fare discounts in Da Nang starting in September
Da Nang station has reduced the price of train tickets to Ho Chi Minh City. Passengers who buy tickets 30 days in advance will get a discount of 30 per cent, those who buy 60 days in advance will get 40 per cent off.
Elsewhere, on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route, passengers will get a 10 per cent discount if they book 30 days before the trip and 20 per cent in case of 90 days.
