New Sacom Resort breaks ground in tourist area in Da Lat
Construction of the US$134 million Sacom Resort began in Tuyen Lam Lake Tourist Area in Da Lat on Monday. The Sacom Resort, which will include a 18-hole golf course, a five-star hotel with 400 rooms, a four-star hotel with 150 rooms, 400 villas, entertainment facilities, golf and yacht clubs, a shopping center and a water park. The HCM City-based Sacom Company, the investor of the resort, expects to put the resort into operation by 2011.
VNAT awards renovated Rex Hotel with five-star status
The Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has awarded five-star status to the four-star Rex Hotel in downtown HCM City, after the hotel received a VND300 billion (US$18 million) expansion.
With this new addition, the number of HCM City five-star hotels will reach 12 with more than 3,900 rooms. They are the Caravelle, Equatorial, Windsor Plaza, New World, Movenpick, Renassance Riverside, Sheraton, Sofitel, Park Hyatt, Majestic and Rex.
Life Heritage Resort in Hoi An will re-launch in August after makeover
Life Heritage Resort Hoi An will re-open its doors to guests on August 8, after a closure from February this year for a major renovation. The resort now features modern tropical Asian style with rich coloured timber and hand carved textures.
Life Resort is located on the bank of Thu Bon River, a few steps from the ancient town of Hoi An, a World Heritage site in Quang Nam Province.
Vietnam Impression photography and media contest launched
Viet Nam Tourism Association has launched a contest called Dau An Viet Nam (Viet Nam Impression). Competitors are encouraged to submit slideshows of their own photos as well as photos set to background music and their own texts that express their feelings for a particular location in Viet Nam.
