Vietnam craft village tourism week to open
The Vietnam Craft Village Association is organising an event to honour craft villages and boost tourism from April 17 to May 4 at Hanoi Ancient Citadel, 12 Nguyen Tri Phuong, Hanoi Vietnam.
The event, named ‘Thang Long – Hanoi craft village, craft street tourism week’, is held in anticipation of the 1000th anniversary celebration of Thang Long – Hanoi and also on the occasion of recent recognition of Thang Long Ancient Citadel as a national relic site.
A space of traditional culture will be set up at the venue of the event with village gate built by Bat Trang brick, old houses, bamboo houses of the northern delta, traditional altars and rural market. Handcraft products such as kites, palm leaf conical hats, lanterns, silks and ceramics of Bat Trang will be introduced at the event. The image of 36 streets of Hanoi in the past will also be recalled with the display of handicraft and fine arts products.
The Hanoi Trade Corporation will display its handicrafts and fine art products which have been exported to many countries in the world. Hoa Lu Handicraft Company will open a showroom named ‘Hanoi street and crafts in the past’ where visitors can feel the space of trade villages and streets of Thang Long thousand years ago.
Many art and cultural activities will also take place during the week such as parades by artisans through streets around the citadel, drumming festival, performances of traditional of water puppetry, cheo (reformed opera), culinary and folk games.
Localities of Hanoi (Hanoi Tours, Hanoi Travel Pictures, Hotels in Hanoi), Ha Tay, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Thai Binh and Lao Cai will introduce their tourism services.
On the occasion, a contest to create products bearing the imprint of Thang Long – Hanoi will also be launched for artisans.
