This is a great combination of adventure, nature & culture into a three-day trek. You will be guided through the picturesque regions of the Pu Luong Natural Reserve. Enjoy the surrounding beauty and biodiversity, visit and stay in the traditional homes of the Thai people. An unforgettable adventure during your visit to Vietnam.
Depart from your Hanoi hotel at 7:00 am transferring to Mai Chau. Daydream as we drive a safe route with spectacular views. Upon arrival at a local village of Ton (Nam Son), we will start our first day of trekking. The highlights of our trek will be experiencing the beauty of Pu luong Nature Reserve and the everyday life and culture of the white Thai people. This is a wonderful trek down hills to Hin village but it could be a difficult trek too if the weather turns bad. Have a picnic lunch under the shade of forest trees, arrive at Hin village in the late afternoon. The host family will welcome us. Free time to take rest and have a shower before having a traditional dinner. Overnight here.
Have breakfast and prepare for our full day of hiking – today will be harder than yesterday. From Nua village, we take a short trek about 4 km via Hin village. Here there is a nice cool stream for you to take rest from the heat of the day before starting our more challenging, but equally as wonderful trek.
Our route becomes more remote, however we will never be far from a
villager tending the fields. We pass steep limestone mountains as we make our way through the rainforests of the Pu Luong Nature Reserve. Picnic lunch will be served at Pon village before heading to an incredible cave, only recently discovered and now protected by the Forest rangers.
Continue with some steeps climbs, stream crossings, valley walks until we arrive in Kho Muong village - the setting of which, is perhaps the most beautiful in Vietnam. It is recommended to stroll round the village and join villagers as they go about their daily lives. Or, relax in one of the three-eco homestays set up by FFI (Flora and Fauna International) in conjunction with the locals. Here we will spend our second night in a typical Thai eco-stilt home.
Note: The easier trekking route is available upon your request (~ 6 - 7 hours trek).
Get up early if you wish to observe or even take part in your host family’s morning activities. Life starts early here so do take the opportunity to stroll around the village before having breakfast served by the Thai people.
At 8:00 am we start our trek. Today we will be walking approximately 3 hours.
We hike up to Dong Dieng village-stop for a short rest and to experience the local daily life then we take a short walk to the main road. Our driver will pick us up and take us to Mai Chau for lunch.
After lunch, free time to walk around the village, then transfer back to Hanoi. Back in Hanoi at about 6:00 pm.
