| Day 1: Saigon - Cai Be - Ben Tre |
It's an early departure from you hotel in Saigon by bus at 7:30 am for Cai Be (2 hours) where we will start with some off-road biking (10 km). We will reach a ferry crossing, then board a touring boat to enjoy some cruising on the mighty Mekong River. See Cai Be floating market and then off the boat for a short pedal to an ancient house.
Break for lunch followed by a little afternoon relaxing in a hammock. Then begin kayaking (2 hours) down one of the small canals. Back to our boat for a cruise to Ben Tre where we will spend the night enjoying the sunset view from the shores of the Mekong. Overnight homestay in a local farmer's home. (L,D) |
| Day 2: Can Tho - Saigon |
|
Today we cycle a total of about 30 km from morning until 3:00 pm. Finish breakfast and start cycling (4 hours) along a small riverside trail. See daily life of the locals, while leisurely winding down the county roads under the green coconut canopy. These coconut palms make Ben Tre famous in Vietnam.
Upon arrival in Ben Tre, at about noontime, we will board our touring boat and cruise down one of the busy branches of the Mekong and onto one of its quiet canals for a little peace and relaxation. Visit an island orchard then lunch break with a traditional meal. See the daily life of local farmers and try exotic seasonal fruits unique to the region. Rest in the hammock, then meander by bicycle exploring this quiet area. Call on a coconut-candy workshop and other handicraft workshops (if time permits) before returning back to our bus and onto your hotel in Saigon. (B,L) |
